NUC stands for “Next Unit of Computing” — Intel’s line of ultra-compact desktop PCs, roughly the size of a paperback at around half a litre. Despite the size, a NUC is a complete Windows computer with a real Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processor, RAM and an SSD, so it handles Office, browsing, email and video calls just like a full desktop. It sips power, runs quietly (some models are fanless), and mounts neatly behind a monitor with a VESA bracket. NUCs are perfect for a clean home desk, a second machine, digital signage or a point-of-sale till. Intel handed the NUC line to ASUS in 2023, so you’ll also see them branded ASUS NUC — they’re the same product family.
